It All Began in the Mitten
Michigan native, Jacob Kloster, was born in Detroit and moved out to the suburbs when he was two. He has two younger sisters, Liz and Carey, and two wonderful parents, Sue and John. Jake is happily married to Heather with two beautiful boys, Caleb and Payton. From Michigan to Arizona Jake moved to Arizona in August 2006. From the moment he landed in Arizona people would always ask what was missed most about back home. Jake’s answer was simple- “Family, Friends, Coneys!” As is with all true Detroiters, Coney Dogs are a regular staple in any Michigan diet. Over the years, Jake participated in many debates on “who has the best Coney Dog?” Having eaten hundreds of Coneys from many different restaurants in his lifetime, it’s hard to narrow down the ultimate Coney, but rather he identified the Coney itself holds a special place in his heart. The Inspiration for Detroit Coney Cruiser It has been a long time dream of Jake’s to bring the Coney Dog to Arizona. When the idea first came to mind, his goal was to make sure everyone in the Phoenix Metro Area at least tried one Coney in their lifetime. He wondered, how can I make this happen? The answer: Food Truck. Being a pretty adventurous guy with a love to travel and see new things, Jake figured, “I can accomplish both with a mobile food business”. And so was born- the Detroit Coney Cruiser!
